PatientVR Supports Friends of Palliative Care

It’s not every day you receive an invitation to a Masquerade Ball, and it’s even rarer when it supports such a meaningful cause. We were honoured to be invited by Friends of Palliative Care in Logan, QLD, to join an evening of mystery and elegance at the Diggers Services Club, Logan, on June 1st.

Friends of Palliative Care, Logan, is a community charity based in Logan, south of Brisbane, dedicated to supporting patients in need. The Masquerade Ball was part of its fundraising efforts, brought to life with the support of local community members, businesses, artists, and leaders who are committed to making a difference. A key focus of the event was raising funds to digitise the patient experience through virtual reality, part of a program recently launched by Logan Hospital Palliative Care with PatientVR, as part of Metro South Health QLD. NUM Gillian Myles , the chief organiser and host of the event, is no stranger to initiatives that make a real impact. Gillian, a Clinical Nurse Consultant at Logan Hospital, is a finalist in the ‘Outstanding Achievement by an Individual in Palliative Care’ category. She and a team of helpers recently transformed Logan’s Palliative Care garden into a wedding wonderland, complete with flowers, champagne, and a wedding cake. In an intimate gathering with loved ones and a small group of hospital staff, Per-Olof stood beside 86-year-old Anne’s hospital bed and promised to love her in sickness and in health. Mobiddiction , the creator of the PatientVR virtual reality experience, is a proud supporter of Friends of Palliative Care , Logan. Our Director, Mike Vasavada , flew in to support the event despite a Jetstar flight cancellation that same morning. “ It was all made possible by the good intentions surrounding this event, and I couldn’t miss it for anything, ” Mike said.

At the ball, we showcased PatientVR , giving attendees a chance to experience what patients at Logan Hospital will encounter through the new virtual reality program. Many guests immersed themselves in PatientVR for the first time and saw the transformative potential of this technology firsthand.
