The Demon Guardians, or Yakshas, at Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha) in Bangkok are twelve 5-meter-tall, colourful statues standing at the temple gates to protect the Emerald Buddha. Built by King Rama I in 1782, these mythical creatures from the Ramayana represent elite guardians distinguished by their unique face colours and elaborate, traditional Thai crowns.
