Gamified intervention using Virtual Reality to help with distraction
We use a gamified intervention approach to provide patients with a positive distraction.
As many of our users know, the INTERACT library is a key differentiator for PatientVR. Our platform goes beyond simple VR experiences such as walking through parks or forests. Instead, the INTERACT library is continuously expanding with new features shaped by direct feedback from the healthcare industry.
This feedback comes from a range of sources, including events, in-person demonstrations, and every opportunity we have to present the PatientVR toolset. We also actively participate in community events such as local RSL clubs, charity fundraisers, community organisations, and healthcare events.
Our INTERACT library is designed with simplicity in mind, ensuring that virtual reality is accessible and not overwhelming for patients.
Our latest INTERACT features introduce a range of gamified interventions, each carefully designed with the end-user patient in mind. Before developing any new feature, our team conducts detailed research, designs the interaction flow, and creates thorough storyboards. We then carry out extensive user testing and gather feedback through dedicated sessions.
Our engineers also closely monitor even subtle changes in behaviour when users interact with the PatientVR app on Meta Quest headsets. This helps us make timely updates and improvements based on real usage patterns and user feedback.
So,
here are a few of our newest INTERACT features in PatientVR:
MARTIAN
Hands-free with head tracking
Ideal for patients with limited mobility and can be used while sitting or standing.
Uses head tracking only, with no hand interaction required.
Features subtle sounds and animations that encourage users to slowly turn their heads left or right to spot martians and shoot them down.
Low-intensity gameplay set in a stunning celestial 3D space environment.
UNDER THE SEA
Hands-free, with head tracking and movement
Suitable for both younger and older users.
Set in an underwater environment inspired by the Great Barrier Reef.
Users move their heads to look around, and when they focus on a fish or object, the species is highlighted on screen.
We are actively developing more immersive activities that patients can use from hospital beds, in home care settings, or while seated in a chair. Our design philosophy remains the same: keep the experience simple, intuitive, and calming so that virtual reality is never overwhelming for patients.
Stay tuned for many more exciting activities on PatientVR.
